"Como se chama filho de Deus?"

Short post with a powerful quote! I'll share something an excellent instructor from the Elders' Quorum shared today that I really liked:

"[The Holy Ghost] is an intelligent being, in the Image of God, possessing every organ, attribute, sense, sympathy, and affection that is possessed by God Himself. But these are possessed by man, in his rudimental state, in a subordinate sense of the word. Or, in other words, these attributes are in embryo, and are to be gradually developed. It quickens all the intellectual faculties, increases, enlarges, expands and purifies all the natural passions and affections...It inspires virtue, kindness, goodness, tenderness, gentleness and charity. It develops beauty of person, form and features. It tends to give health, vigor, animation and social feeling. It invigorates all the faculties of the physical and intellectual man."

I think this is a great highlight of both our potential as children of God, and how the Spirit is so necessary to help us to realize that celestial potential within all of us. I love this quote, and I love feeling the Lord's Spirit and know that it is His guiding me in what He wants to help me accomplish. The title of this post is a reference to what a a companion of mine, E. Mechaileh, always said on my mission:

"Como se chama filho de pato?" ("What do you call the offspring of a duck?")
"Patinho, é claro." ("A duckling", only different because of the diminutive form of the word for "duck". Meaning: lit. "little-duck" - this is totally valid for any animal)
"Então, como se chama um filho de Deus?" ("So, what do you call a child of God?")

The "logical" conclusion, as it goes, is that the other person says "Deusinho" - literally, a "little god"! This was always a funny little pun to illustrate something important to investigators, but I've kept it close to my heart since I first heard it. Don't forget your potential (or the potential of those you're serving!). Also, don't forget to write! I love y'all!

Eu acho que este é uma salientação ótima tanto de nosso potencial como filhos de Deus quanto de como o Espírito é tão necessário para nos ajudar a realizar aquele potencial celestial dentro de todos nós. Adoro esta citação, e adoro sentir o Espírito do Senhor e saber que isso é o Senhor me guiar a fazer aquilo que Ele quer me ajudar a atingir. O título desta postagem é uma referência ao que um companheiro meu, o E. Mechaileh, sempre dizia na missão:

"Como se chama filho de pato?"
"Patinho, é claro."
"Então, como se chama um filho de Deus?"

A conclusão, para o brasileiro, é fácil - "Deusinho". Este é um trocadilhinho bobinho para ilustrar algo importante aos pesquisadores, mas sempre guardei perto de meu coração desde que primeiro o ouvi. Não se esqueçam do potencial que vocês (e os que sirvam!) têm. Também, não se esqueçam de escrever de volta! Amo vocês!
