Sunrise on Another Era/Pôr-do-sol Numa Nova Época

Man, my life has been crazy lately. It's all because of a new era that has dawned on.

I'm now on a second mission. :D

I have been called as a worker at the Provo Temple. I'm quite excited! And yes, that is NOT a coincidence that since then I've been missing from the blog here. Updating this blog is a dear goal of mine, but lately I simply have been overscheduled and it's been taking its toll. I've become painfully aware of some of my limits as I am now in terms of how much I can handle in my schedule, and right now I'm just hanging on for dear life. Any time wasted costs a lot more than it did this last semester. Almost everything I'm doing is something I consider very important. And now it's to the point where planning is not a question of "Well, is this important?", it's a question of "Well, what's the most important thing I need to go do?" - I have to take out the less-important stuff constantly. That's certainly like serving a mission!

I'm very glad to have learned the time management matrix methodology (link not for missionaries, from President Gonzaga while I was on my mission.) It's a technique that's been studied a lot, and perhaps next post I could go into some more depth, especially for you missionaries - it's something that really, really helped me out while I was in the office and always deciding what I needed to do. Even so, managing time and differentiating between the important and the urgent is especially relevant because:

• Mosiah 4:27 Many times, we get stuck in the mode of urgency, which is of the natural man (well, in most circumstances). When we are under that sort of timecrunch, we tend not to do our best job, and can miss some important details or lessons. We "win the prize" by being diligent - and time management is most certainly a technique for accomplishing that.
• Mosiah 2:19-22 - We are described as "unprofitable servants" even in the best of conditions. We could spend our time the best way we could, and we still wouldn't come close to the value of the blessings we enjoy as members of the Church (really living, actually). But there's no way that we can't let that excuse us from being as efficient as we could (which is not to say that we need to run ourselves into the ground trying to be as "efficient" as possible - that's something I've learned about a lot lately). God didn't give us this time with an interest in creating a debt - He gave it to us with an interest in creating more happy beings who are celestial material. ;)

Speaking of things celestial, there are also some fantastic quotes for you missionaries, especially you trunky ones (you know who you are!):

About that last one: This is time. Time is so very very important for the reasons I've described above...God gave it to us for free, and it's never coming back once we've used it. We've got an unlimited amount of time to learn...but only this short time on Earth to demonstrate just how much He has given us actually means.

I hope you take advantage of the personalized lessons that God offers to you through the precious time we have here. He certainly is anxious to give them to us. Sometimes we have to pay very close attention. But they're always there. ;) I love y'all! Don't forget to write!

Cara, a minha vida tem sido doida recentemente. É tudo por causa de uma nova época que nasceu na minha vida.

Agora estou servindo uma segunda missão :D

Fui chamado como um obreiro no Templo de Provo. Estou muito animado! E sim, NÃO é coincidência que tenho faltado no blog aqui. Atualizar este blog é uma meta querida minha, mas recentemente simplesmente tenho estado agendado demais e tenho pagado o preço. Estou dolorosamente ciente de alguns de meus limites como agora sou em termos do quanto que posso lidar na minha agenda, e agora só estou mal segurando fazer tudo que planejei. Qualquer tempo gasto me custa muito mais que custava no último semestre. Quase tudo que estou fazendo é algo que considero muito importante. E agora está ao ponto de que planejar não é uma questão de "Bom, esta coisa é importante?", é a de "Bom, qual é a coisa mais importante que preciso fazer?" - tenho que tirar as coisas menos importantes constantemente. Certamente é como servir missão!

Sou muito grato por ter aprendido a metodologia do matrix do gerenciamento do tempo (inglês, link não é para missionários) É uma técnica que tem sido estudada muito, e talvez na próxima postagem eu possa descrevê-la em maior profundidade, especialmente para vocês missionários - é algo que realmente me ajudou bastante enquanto eu estava no escritório e sempre decidindo o que eu precisava fazer. Dito isso, gerenciar o tempo e diferenciar entre o importante e o urgente é especialmente importante por causa do seguinte:

• Mosias 4:27 Muitas vezes, nós ficamos no modo de urgência, que é do homem natural (bom, na maioria das circunstâncias). Quando estamos sob aquele tipo de exigência do tempo, tendemos a não fazer o nosso melhor, e podemos perder uns detalhes ou lições importantes. Nós "ganhamos o galardão" por sermos diligentes - e gerenciamento do tempo é certamente uma técnica por alcançar isso.
• Mosias 2:19-22 - Somos descritos como "servos inúteis" nas melhores condições. Podemos passar o nosso tempo da melhor maneira possível, e ainda nem chegaríamos pertos do valor das bêncãos que aproveitamos como membros da Igreja (realmente, de viver mesmo). Mas jamais devemos deixar que isso nos desculpe em ser o mais eficiente que podemos ser (que não quer dizer também que precisamos nos gastar completamente tentando ser o mais "eficiente" possível - é algo interessante que tenho aprendido muito recentemente). Deus não nos deu este tempo com interesse em criar uma dívida - Ele no-lo deu com interesse em criar mais seres felizes que são material celestial. ;)

Falando de coisas celestiais, também tem umas citações fantásticas para vocês missionários, especialmente para os trunkys (sabem quem são!):

"As coisas que recebemos por nada são as coisas que não podemos repor." -Earl Nightingale

Sobre essa última: É o tempo. O tempo é tão tão importante pelas razões que descrevi encima...Deus o deu para nós de graça, e nunca voltará após o usarmos. Tenho um tempo ilimitado para aprender...mas somente este tempo curto na Terra para demonstrar o quanto que o que Ele nos deu realmente significa para nós.

Espero que vocês tenham aproveitado as lições personalizadas que Deus oferece para vocês por meio do tempo precioso que temos aqui. Ele certamente é ansioso para nos dá-las. Às vezes, temos que prestar bastante atenção. Mas sempre estão. ;) Amo vocês! Não se esqueçam de escrever!
